Raja Laut
< back
The Raja Laut is a modern version of the 19th century gentleman's yacht. With classic lines and varnished timber
interiors, the Raja Laut follows in the wake of similar vessels that undertook journeys of exploration and trade from
West to East, notably the schooner 'Royalist' sailed by Sir James Brooke, an inspiration for many an adventure story.
In fact the name Raja Laut, Malay for 'King of the Seas', is itself a reference to a Joseph Conrad novel set in the
Indonesian Archipelago.

Effortlessly combining style and grace with modern technology, Raja Laut has shared and enjoyed unforgettable
moments in Southeast Asia since 2006. Yacht charter journeys with the schooner Raja Laut are unique experiences
of remote, beautiful, natural areas. Our private expeditions provide a sense of peace and tranquility, but also a
sense of adventure, all the while offering fine dining, comfort and safety.

Yacht Charter Activities

We are sometimes asked, "what will we do for a week on board the yacht?" The response is that you can do all the
things that you would do were you staying in a hotel, but in addition to this, you have the freedom to move from
one location to another at any time you please!

The activities available to you on board will differ with the location you choose to charter the Raja Laut. If you have
an active family group, with young children and teens, you may want to opt for a location where plenty of variety
on offer, such as Phang Nga Bay, Phuket and Langkawi. Older, active couples may be more interested in choosing a
destination that is remote, pristine and untouched, such as the Andamans, Mergui Archipelago, North Borneo,
Palawan, Komodo. In some cases, it's not necessary to compromise as some areas offer everything!

If you are new to cruising in Southeast Asia we can recommend starting from Phuket, Thailand, and visiting the
magical islands of Phang Nga Bay, Phi Phi, Krabi, Similan, Surin, and Koh Tarutao all set in the gorgeously warm  and
alluring Andaman Sea.

Before you charter the Raja Laut we will send you a preference list so that together with our chef we can plan the
menu according to your tastes and any specific dietary requirements or restrictions your party might have.

If you have no specific preferences we will prepare and plan to delight you anyway. The cuisine aboard Raja Laut
typically features Western, Asian and fusion, seafood, salads, light lunches, healthy breakfasts, and fruits.

Also prior to a private charter journey we will send you a list of wines, beers and spirits that are available from our
wine suppliers, or that are currently in stock aboard the yacht.
Raja Laut is fully equipped for scuba diving, with compressor, tanks, and semi-rigid inflatable tender (RIB). Onboard
we also have 8 complete sets of scuba equipment for your use (wetsuit, bcd, fins, mask, snorkel, weightbelt,
etc.).  When you choose scuba diving as part of your charter experience we will ensure that your dives are guided
by an experienced PADI dive instructor. If you are a certified diver please bring your license and log book. If you
are not yet certified, our dive instructor will be able to introduce you to scuba diving via the "Discover Scuba"
